Game Formats

All of the following formats can be played in both solo and team format. But features may vary between equipment and can be changed on the Quasar Computer.

Energise

The standard game format in Quasar, and is generally played with 4 lives. Reflex shots and defence shields are on, with 1 shot per second and a six second base delay. Played in most regs games and the official format for the Quasar 500 Competition.

Supercharge

Generally played with 3 or 6 lives, players are normally unable to shoot the base. Supercharge is slightly different than Energise, in that when a player gets five 'good shot's without being shot him/herself; he/she gets Supercharge instead of a 'well played'. The player now has 3 shots per second and is able to de-activate the opposition base. Supercharge is more of a snipers game, and is used for the UK National Championships.

Eliminator

In this format, players start with a set amount of lives, which is usually 10. If a player is shot, he/she has to go back to the energiser and reload again, this time with only 9 lives. Once all of the player's lives run out, he/she is eliminated from the game. However, if a player gets a 'good shot' he/she obtains an extra life.

Stun

Like Energise, except players never have to reload their gun. Starting with 0 lives, each time a player is shot this number increases, so that they can see how many times they have been shot in the game. A disadvantage of this game is that team scores can never be seen unless someone decides to energise.

Battlefield

Before a game of Battlefield, a number of packs are energised and strategically placed around the arena; the object of this is so that these packs shoot players during the game, regardless of colour. After the game begins, the players can then energise their packs, and play away, although the packs around the arena will fire out through all sensors every 3 seconds.
